AC Milan will face Newcastle in the first round of the Champions League group stage and as a result, the hotel prices in Milano have skyrocketed. Of course, this isn’t exactly surprising.
Milan were drawn into Group F along with Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle (see the schedule here). It’s been labelled the group of death and the Rossoneri will start at home against the English side.
For Newcastle, it’s a special game as it will be their first Champions League clash since the 2002/03 season. Many fans are thus planning to make the trip to Italy but the hotel prices have skyrocketed as a result of the demand for those dates.
In addition to increased living costs in the city, forcing the hotels to charge more, the many bookings made already have decreased the supply. Although there are cheaper options (though with the cost of proximity), most hotels will set you back at least €350 per night.
Normally, you could get a two-night stay for that kind of money, if not more. The game is scheduled for 18:45 CEST on September 19 and San Siro will surely be sold out.
