Florida gas prices surge 20 cents after July 4th holiday - Tallahassee Democrat

Florida gas prices have surged, breaking a three-week streak of declines.

This Sunday, after the July 4th holiday, the price per gallon increased 20 cents to $3.46.

"Fortunately, oil prices remain low. Unless that changes this week, the upward pressure on gas prices should ease soon," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA - The Auto Club Group.

This year's Independence Day gas prices were $1.28 per gallon less than last year's holiday.

The current average price per gallon is still well below this year's high of $3.72 per gallon.
