In total, drivers are paying almost $6 less to fill-up at the pump compared to last month. Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman, said Georgia remains one of the states in the country with low gas prices.
“Georgia remains one of the states in the U.S. with low gas prices ahead of the New Year,” Waiters said.
She said the suspension of the state gas tax, which has been extended through January 10, continues to be “the driving force” pushing gas prices lower.

“Governor Brian Kemp’s suspension of the state gas tax through January 10th, continues to be the driving force pushing pump prices lower, as well as increasing supply and lower gasoline demand,” said Waiters.
According to data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), the increasing supply and low gasoline demand are pushing pump prices lower. As demand remains low and stocks rise, drivers will likely continue seeing gas prices go down through next year.
Right now, Atlanta leads Georgia’s most expensive metro market at $2.76 with Warner Robins being the lowest metro market in the state at $2.46.
